MESQUITE (CBS 11 NEWS) – Police in three different North Texas cities are investigating three different armed robberies that happened under similar circumstances.

The Mesquite Police Department confirmed Friday night it is working with other agencies to see if or how the robberies could be related.

“It does happen. We are currently investigating this and seeing if it might fit other crimes in other cities,” explained Mesquite police Sergeant Joe Smith.

Smith is referring to the AutoZone store in the 4600 block of Gus Thomasson that was robbed on Tuesday. Police said three masked men stormed in, armed with guns and demanded money. Investigators also learned that they assaulted one employee.

“You know it’s a scary video when you see three guys come into a store that quickly and take it over like they did,” said Smith.

On January 29, a similar scene played out in Balch Springs at the Hispanic grocery store, La Carreta.

Then on Wednesday, Seagoville police confirmed a Little Caesars pizza restaurant was also robbed.

All three circumstances involved three masked men who were armed.

Mesquite police are unsure if the robbers are the same three men or a large group working together.

A Crime Stoppers reward is being offered for anyone with information that leads to arrests.
